My experience with these dedicated professionals is :
I live in Maplewood Manor Senior Apartments which is where the Housing Commission offices are located. I was the Resident Commissioner appointed by His Honor The Mayor.I was sent to classes to study and learn about the position.I continued to learn for 4 years as I filled that position. I learned the most by watching and asking questions.
Each member of their team is expert in every phase of the operation and have carried a 98%+ efficiency rating in the overall operation for over 8 years straight.Not an easy task...but they are good enough to make it look that way.The office here handles over 1,000 clients in Section 8 HUD programs spread over 5 counties, including Wayne county, the states largest county. I left my post in 2010 for medical and family reasons, but I still live in Maplewood Manor ... the only property owned outright by the Taylor housing Commission...and is managed by one of their own. And it is nice here.
